Children's/Popular Book Grant
Deadline: January 30, 2025
The Assyrian Studies Association's Children's & Popular Book grant is an annual grant of up to $2,000 for an emergent writer or already published author*. This grant is intended to support the publication of an Assyrian related children book or popular book.

The grantee may choose to use the grant for activities that include, but are not limited to:

Printing costs

Workshops, seminars, conferences

Illustration costs

Editing costs
*An unpublished writer is preferred, however publication of several pieces of short fiction, or up to two self-published or traditionally published books will not disqualify an applicant.

Application Requirements (Updated Nov. 2024)

Emerging writer who is unpublished, or a published author of short fiction or up to two self-published or traditionally published books. (No prior writing or publishing experience is required).

Manuscript in-progress (1,000-2,000 words at minimum for popular book applicants and up to 1,000 word minimum for children's book applicants)

Budget of project

A resume or biographical statement (2 page maximum)

A cover letter that gives a sense of the applicant's book, and briefly states how the grant funds will be used (1 page)

Please note that NO late applications will be accepted after January 30, 2025 (no exceptions).
